Recovering playlists and music

I recently bought a macbook and tried synching my iphone to it. When I did all my old playlists and a lot of music disappeared. How do I recover it? Very frustrated.

Hi PattyW16,

Syncing is a one-way transfer of music from your iTunes library on the computer to your device. In order to get all of your music to your new Mac, you need to copy the iTunes Library from your old Mac or PC to your new one. If your old computer is a Mac, and you have a Time Machine backup, that would be another way to get your music and other data onto your new computer. This is the most complete way to move your music. You can also download any past purchases to your new computer:
