I dropped my 4th Gen iPad on the sidewalk, shattering the screen and denting the aluminum backing at the corners. The screen is being replaced, but I wonder how expensive it will be to replace the aluminum backing?

The edges are dented and scratched. I guess this is what I get for taking it out of the case.

Apple does not sell parts, so you cannot get a new back. If someone other than Apple

replaced the screen, Apple will no longer service that iPad nor will Apple offer a

reduced price Out of Warranty replacement for that iPad.

If you have not yet had the screen replaced or the iPad opened by anyone other

than Apple, suggest you make an appointment at the Genius Bar to find out

your options.
