How to fix the warning and what it means
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), Please help asap
Ignore it. I just means Apple changed permissions or other settings in the OS after the initial release of Yosemite. As they always have, Disk Utility never gets updated to recognize those changes and reports them as "errors".
Thank you
You're welcome. 🙂
No problem thank you I even had it with my Maverick operating system.
This question must have come up a lot for Apple's telephone support. They put this page together to explain some of it. As it notes, it says "some examples" as they will vary from one major OS release to another, but it gives the user an idea.
In El Capitan, Apple has done away with Repair Permissions entirely from the user end. It checks for and repairs any permissions that need fixing in the background.
