Mac is automatically shutting down even if just the flap is shut?

I haven't had this issue before. I used to just shut the flap and not switch off my machine. Now, since this morning, my machine decided that everytime the flap is shut, it will shut down automatically. So basically I am unable to pick up from where I left because all my tabs and docs automatically gets shut.

What can i do?
