Imac help screen freeze

Need help with my iMac mid-2010 w/ OS X 10.9.5 . About once a week my screen freezes up, the mouse arrow will not move, I am unable to force quit, and this always happen when using internet. No particular site. Doesn't happen when using word, PDF files, etc. Originally had 4GB memory, I added 8 GB last year hoping this would solve the problem, but it hasn't. I bought OWC memory - 2 x 4.0GB 1333MHz DDR3 SO-DIMM PC10600 204 Pin I have done all the security updates.

Any help would be appreciated. thank you

A Safe Mode boot deletes system caches that may help the screen freezes.

Top left corner of your screen click the Apple > Shut Down.

After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

Once you are in Safe Mode, go back to the Apple menu. From the drop down menu click: Restart

Then use the internet to test.
