Older Version of iTunes

Have a 2006 iMac. Running 10.6.8. The last few updates of iTunes are not running properly. The "wheel of death" spins and a force quit is required. Then I lose the playlist or the recently added mp3s. I've added more memory, so that's not an issue. Can I find an older version of iTunes [2013 or before], install it without losing my playlists? Don't need all the latest "bells and whistles" - just want a version that's stable and runs on my computer. Thanks for your help.
