iTunes 12.2.1.16 podcast d/l;ipod sync broken

1. I don't want to see any of the Cloud/Arrow download icons. Just d/l the newest and I'll use smart playlists to know what to sync to my iPod Nano 3g.

2. Podcasts are not all downloading; but some are ONLY displaying the cloud/arrow icons. I touched nothing on my Mac iTunes. I did sign up for trial Apple Music. And I did TRY to use the podcast app on my iPhone 4s.

Any ideas to getting plain old normal podcast subscriptions to download to my Mac?
