jpeg format changed by a MAC so they can't be opened by non-apple hardware or software
I don't own a MAC but have an issue caused by one that I really need help with. And based on a recent internet trawl, so do lots of others - I have found plenty of questions but no answers.
My friend downloaded all our holiday pictures from my camera to her mac. Her mac then took it upon itself to delete my pictures from the card. No problem we thought - just get them from her mac. However, the photos we copied off the mac aren't vewiable or openable on any programme on my pc or can find on the internet.
The photos still claim to be jpegs, but if I try and open them with photoviewer I get the message below. If I try and open with anything else, it just fails.
When I try to open the files I get this message: "windows photo viewer can't open this picture because it doesn't support this file format."
Clearly the MAC has done something to the format when the photos were uploaded. Please can somebody tell me what it is and how to open these files on a windows computer?
I don't have a MAC and based on this exepeince am very unlikely to ever get one. Can somebody convince me otherwise?
Please help - I am desperate to retrieve my photos.
