Problems relaunching a podcast?

Hi,

We used to take content that we posted on YouTube and put it in on iTunes as a podcast. Since it was repurposed content and it wasn't a real priority for us, it didn't get many listeners.

But now we're ready to start a legitimate podcast and create original content. We'll essentially be starting from scratch, but since we've technically been in the iTunes store for a long time we won't qualify for the new and noteworthy list.

Is there any problem in taking our podcast down, then resubmitting it again to have a fresh start? Thanks for any input you can give us.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of myths circulating about "formulas" to get into New & Noteworthy. Really the section should be called "New and/or Noteworthy" as shows that are way beyond the supposed 8-week New/Noteworthy window can get featured.

Regardless, if it's your desire to remove the old listing and start anew, there's nothing wrong with doing that. Just make sure you have the current podcast feed removed from the iTunes Store before trying to submit the new one, especially if you're going to use the same RSS feed.

There's no guarantee that going through that process will get you into n=New and Noteworthy, but if you really want to do that, make sure that you give your podcast a different name and if possible a different feed URL, otherwise you will probably fall over a bug which will tell you it's already been submitted.

To get it removed, go to https://itunespodcasts.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and click the disclosure triangle at the right of the 'Choose a topic' field - choose 'Remove My Podcast' and proceed from there.

The N&N section is the most overrated feature there is. Removing an established show to start over is not just wrong it is a huge mistake and will hurt you in the most important part of iTunes - the search results. Which are based in part on the total number of subscribers all time. So if you start over for the really worthless item of N&N - you will be hurting yourself in the most important area - search.

Get your money back from whom ever recommend that N&N was worth removing your show to start over.
