Magsafe

Hi,

The small cable on my Magsafe Power adapter Model A1343 suddenly melted after 5min of charging. (right next to the white box)

My adapter was undamaged before the melting but it usually did get pretty hot when charging my macbook pro.

Now I bought my Macbook 4 years ago so there is no warranty anymore but this is clearly a technical malfunction of the adapter.

Can I get a replacement?

I've read online that there are technical flaws in the Magsafe adapters sold around 2010 and that there even was a lawsuit but that Apple refuses to adress these flaws. Should I count myself lucky that my house didn't burn down because of these flaws?
