Creating a vertical scrollbar within table (within a worksheet)? Doable??

I'm trying to have a worksheet display static charts on the top half and a scrollable table on the bottom half.

Just going off some past threads on vertical scrollbars for a table, it sounds like it can't be done. Can the newest version of numbers do it?? I'm not talking about the scrollbar within a worksheet, but creating a table within a worksheet with its own scrollbar.

Or would the closet thing to this if the vertical scrollbar can't be done is to freeze panes of a row?

thanks.

actually, freezing the rows doesn't appear to be going the way I imagined it would. I'm used to working with microsoft excel and the table function in numbers doesn't appear to function the same way a standard excel worksheet does. In my example, I'm trying to create a daily log with the each row being a date and certain data and comments entered in columns. I'm trying to create a split screen view with the top half of the worksheet static and the bottom half scrollable.

I've attached an example to illustrate what I'm trying to do. The calendars on the top of the page would remain in view while the daily log table would be sized to just show data for 2 week increments. I'd like to have this bottom portion scrollable but it doesn't appear that numbers would allow me to do this. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

ian,

thanks. Is there a way to get the windows to open up automatically each time once I get them sized and positioned the first time around?? From your snapshot, it looks like two separate windows files. I'm trying to make this efficient as possible since I'll be accessing the file routinely and having the resizing and position multiple files can become tedious. Might be the best solution though. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi acdc,

Numbers 3.5.3 remembers the size and position of the document windows after you save.

Locate the documents in Finder and select them.

Finder > Menu > File > Make Alias.

Drag the aliases to somewhere convenient (these are on my Desktop):

When you want to open the documents, double click on each alias in turn.

They will open in Numbers with their saved window size and position.

Regards,

Ian.
