iPhone deleted my music and used that storage for "other"

I was downloading a bunch music, which I made sure I had enough space for, and out of nowhere, when I opened up the music app next it had to reload all of my music library. I didn't think much of it until I plugged it in to my computer and noticed that all of the space that had been taken up by downloaded music was gone, and other was filled up with the amount of space missing. Can anybody help?
