How do I delete a huge number of bookmarks from Safari on and ipad
instapaper installed over 16500 bookmarks to nothing in my browser.
it was easy enough on the mac, but I can't figure out how to get rid of them on the ipad
one by one is not an option I need a bulk method.

The easiest way is to go to Settings -> iCloud and then disable syncing of Safari. You will be asked what do you want to do with the synced data on your device. Simply select to delete it. Afterwards, there will be no bookmarks via your Safari browser app on the device.
