10.6.8 MAC OS x SPEND MY MONEY!

So this is basically it, im running a older macbook pro and i want to upgrade it completeley, i wanted to have it running as smooth as possible understanding that it might cost me alot of money. Now before people start saying " its better its cheaper" to buy a newer one i just want to know let you know know that yes I know! but i want to keep my baby, I love the 17 screen and itll cost me too much money to go out and buy a brand new one. Im willing to spend whatever it takes to get this to run as best as possibile. the benefits is that i have time there is no rush and i can buy parts one at a time compared to going out and dropping 7 or 800 bucks on a newer version. Moral of the story is that im trying to get this dinasour to run like a chetah with our sparring any expense im not a tech guy so ill have somebody else professionally install everything but atleast i can search for bargains on the internet, thanks so much for your help!

If I am correct, you have a 1.2 model identifier MBP. I have one of those.

You can install maximum RAM of 2 GB. The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.

You could install a SSD, but be aware that SATA 1 connection will not allow the SSD achieve maximum performance capabilities. (I have a 7200 rpm HDD installed)

Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is the latest OSX that you can install. It is the most efficient OSX from Apple.

There is nothing you can do with the GPU (which struggles at times) or the CPU.

I still use it and I like it despite the fact that it is 'obsolete'.

Ciao.

If you do have a 1.2 model identifier MBP, what you heard was untrue. Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is the newest OSX that the MBP will accept.

I have already told you that RAM and storage can be upgraded.

The CPU and the GPU can NOT be changed.

Ciao.
