Update to "Nikon Scan 4 " and "Nikon View 6"

I have the NIKON "COOLSCAN V ED" with the software "Nikon Scan 4 "

It doesn't work with ML and they advise to get software from Silverfast (the 8,5 is the latest version). It cost $50 which I can't spend now and I'm wondering is there a way to get it elsewhere? It is not available at Amazon or ebay.

I will also need an update to Nikon View 6 which doesn't work either.

There are free downloads but I don't trust these websites (Cnet, softonic, etc).

Any suggestions?
