i have the macbook and i had to restart everything and i could not find the installation disc so i order one online. the one i ordered was the apple macbook 13 inch 2010 10.6.1 install disc with application disk. but i have the 2009 13 inch macbook pro. will the discs work.

Unfortunately, the DVDs that came with a Mac can only be used on that computer model, so you cannot use that DVD to reinstall Mac OS X on your Mac. You have to look for DVDs for your Mac model.
A different thing you can try is to purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard from the Apple Online Store and use it to reinstall Mac OS X, and then update it and upgrade to OS X Yosemite if you want to.

as mende1 suggests, the Snow Leopard DVD from the Apple Online Store (contains standard 10.6.3) and will work for all MacBook Pro through 2009, and all Mac Pro silver tower through 2009.
If you cannot find what you need, Apple support can sell you a copy of the Mac OS X version you need for about US$20. The first responders may not be trained in this -- you may have to ask for a specialist. They used to sell you a replica of the release disc that shipped in the box, but lately they seem to provide just a DVD-R of a copy of the standard Mac OS X installer you need.
