Text messages disappeared

So I was using my phone today and I got a vibrate to say I had a text Message and then the notification bar came down but as I went to click it, it disappeared and went back up.

I know it was a text message as I saw the green message icon but I now can't find the message at all,

I thought maybe it had something to do with my iMessage so I turned it off and restarted my phone by holding the home and lock button and turned it back on then turned the iMessage back on but nothing came.

I would like to know where the text message went and why I can't look at it.

I also have a iPhone 6plus and had the latest ios
