Rebuild project file

HEllo. Links to photos and movies in iPhoto brokE so I get the exclamation mark " source missing" error message on imovie 9. i tried repairing it by following the steps here: http://www.wellys.com/extras/iMovie%2009%20Source%20clip%20is%20missing.pdf

but i ended up ruining my project (the Project file) got ruined. I can no lomger play or edit the project... I can however play it when full screen on preview mode. Is there a way to rebuild this project or project file? Unfortunately the file is not backed up with Time Machine because all my imovie files are in mt external HD. Please help.

I Have both imove 9 and 10 but i use imovie 9 for this particular project. The movie is degraded when played on imovie 10 (maybe only on preview mode??). I created the project on imovie 9.
