Kernel Panic- Can anyone interpret for me? (please!)

For about a week, I've been seeing the dreaded black screen on my 2013 iMac (running 10.10.4; 3.5GHz i7 processor). I tried to make my way through the panic report, but I just can't figure it out. Can anyone help? Thank you!

Your Kernal Panic does not seem to be a result of a software issue. If you upgraded the RAM yourself that is where I would start looking. Common KP causes are:

Incorrect RAM
Failed RAM
Unseated RAM

If you upgraded the RAM, first try reseating it, however please note iMacs are very sensitive to quality RAM. Most experienced users on these forums only recommend OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial. If you did upgrade the RAM you can also remove all the upgraded RAM and install only the original Apple RAM and then retest. If the computer does not KP, then you know you need to replace the RAM with higher quality product.

The RAM in the iMac is original to the computer, and installed by Apple. I haven't added (or removed) any hardware since it was purchased.

Is there anything in that log that points to hardware vs software? (I really should learn how to read these things!) Thank you for your response and for having a go at this. :-)

Nothing in the KP supports it being a software issue unless it is cause by an obscure OS X bug, however that is highly unlikely. Your options are:

Run Apple Diagnostics per Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support and see if any hardware problems show up. If none do then take the computer to an Apple Store or AASP for professional diagnosis.

If you don't have an Apple Store near by and don't know of any AASPs in your area, please click https://locate.apple.com/country to begin finding one.

It doesn't appear that the ram is factory installed as (A) 24 GB of ram is not a factory option, and (B) the installed ram is from different manufacturers. Did you buy the Mac from a reseller that may have upgraded the ram for you?

You should remove the third party 8GB ram chips and test.

Yep, you're right (as was rkaufmann87). It was upgraded before I received it. It was a gift, so I didn't realize. It's supposedly decent quality memory from Crucial, but even that fails. I'll remove the extra chips and test. I'm not finding any errors with Apple Diagnostics, but I've also read that RAM can require a longer, more rigorous testing sometimes to find errors. Will remove the suspect modules and see what happens. Thank you!

All of the RAM was properly seated, so that's out, as is incorrect (I ran the checker to make sure the proper modules were installed, and they were). Plus, it's been running properly for over a year. So that leaves Failed RAM. I've removed the two potentially offending modules and now just have to wait to see if a panic happens. They're unpredictable, so it may be a couple of days before I see another one (or don't). I'll report back once I have results. Thanks again!

If it panics with the third party ram removed your next step would be to reinstall it and remove the original 8gb of Apple ram then re-test.
