1. Check the phone book or maps for your area.
2. They'll need to search for it or wait for someone to turn it in. The only thing that can be done with the serial number is to check if an already-found device is yours.

You will need to contact them to see what they will do. It varies all over the world. Many will not do anything more than take a report of the theft. Where I live, I would find out how to contact them by doing an internet search (or using a phone book if I had one).
