Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're trying to whitelist specific ports on your server in order to allow OS X to update its software. For OS X 10.8 and higher software update uses the following:
Port TCP or UDP Service or Protocol Name RFC Service Name
443 TCP Secure Sockets Layer (SSL, or "HTTPS") 2818 https TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products - Apple Support
