what are the benefits of OS X server vs google apps for work?

I have this idea that breaking up with google could be helpful. I don't know why Im thinking that? just the motive of having more control over my devices and corporation infrastructure make it appealing. I have a 12 core mac pro.

I was trying to deploy iPads for my teams and ran into the profile manager option while looking for best practices. Thus i have begun down the road for considering completely divorcing from google altogether. Is this really necessary or am I going to complicate my situation? I am a self taught it admin for my company ( construction) and am looking to simplify ( which may not be immediate)
