number of raids on an xserve

I have bought an xserve and i have one raid array and it has been explained to me that i am limited to the size of hdds i can fit in my raid and my storage need exceed what my raid can hold, is there any limit to the number of raid units i can connect to my xserve as i would like to expand my storage capacity.
