Q: Windows 10 stuck

Hello, yesterday I installed windows 10 on my USB using bootcamp.

Then my mac restarted after installation and then i got the error "no bootable divide found" I mentioned to fix that problem, but now I have the following problem:

If I power on my mac it says again "no bootable device found", but thats not a problem because if I press alt when booting I can choose "Mac" "Windows" or "efi".

If I choose "efi", everything works fine, but if I the steps at one step I have to choose I want to install windows 10 on. And then it says cannot install windows with efi, you need an PTG partition not an MBA (I forgot the exact names of the partitions).

So then I can't install windows with efi.

Then I choose the "windows" option to boot from and then the blue windows 10 logo appears. And like 5 seconds after that my USB goes flashing 6 times a second.

Maybe I should repartition to PTG and boot with efi, but that's not the way it's explained everywhere.

Does someone know how to fix it that it's stuck on the windows 10 logo?

Greetz Tom.

    1. What is the year/model of your Mac?

    2. Macs prior to Late 2013 models do not support EFI boot, but only Windows boot. If there is no MBR, it can be easily created using GPT Fdisk (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/) .

    1. MacBook Pro (13-inch, medio 2012)
    2. I can run on EFI boot, and everything works fine, but once I have to select the partition to install windows on it says that it needs an GPT partition. How can I make GPT partition using disk utilty? Can you just select the "guide" label?

    Thanks

Your Mac model is not UEFI compliant and will cause issues with GPU and Audio drivers. If you do not have anything  other than Windows installed on your Mac, my suggestion is to remove bootcamp using BCA (only), and then try to install it again. If it fails again with the GPT vs MBR issue, please post back, and I can provide instructions on how to create the MBR and continue the installation.

Do you mean that I should reinstall BCA or just the partition?

    Btw thank you for helping!

It is possible that the EFI install created an MSR partition, and you may also have a Windows RE partition.

Please post the output of the following commands from Terminal.

    diskutil list

    diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt for your password, and it will not be echoed back. You may also see a warning about improper use of "sudo" and potential data loss due to "abuse" of the command.
