ipod shuffle connected to imac, but now won't connect to macbook air?

I bought a new ipod shuffle for my vacation. I set it up at home on my imac, filled it with music, no problem. Now I'm away and when I plug it into my macbook air nothing happens. I followed all of the troubleshooting steps, changing USB port turning it on and off turning the computer on and off, checking that itunes and my system are up-to date. It still won't show up.It also charges when plugged into the computer. I'm able to use my computer's USB ports to connect to my iphone and ipad... so I don't understand why the shuffle can't connect.

It plays the music I put on before just fine.

Launch iTunes on the MB Air then go to the menu bar, click Store > Authorize this Computer OR Account > Authorize this Computer

I wan to add that I checked the hosts file and it seems fine:

I also do not run security software. So that's not the issue.

I tried deauthorizing all of my computers then reauthorized. It's still not working.

I'm home from my trip and the shuffle won't connect to my iMac either. I also tried my husband's PC. It just doesn't show up

I called support and they had me log out in the control panel. That didn't help either.

My ipod shuffle works but I'm getting sick of these songs. Is there any way to just reset it? (it won't show up on any computer)
