Apple Music stops playing automatically after a few minutes

Hi everyone,

Am I the only person with this problem? Here it is: after starting an album or a playlist, after a while (which varies between 15 to 30 minutes), the music stops abruptly, in the middle of a song, for no apparent reason. I can restart it using the play button, but it makes for poor experience. The music can be streamed or directly on my iPhone, it makes no difference: it just stops.

I would understand if my WiFi was flaky, but it isn't. It works great, signal is strong, and Spotify / Songza do not behave this way. Also, this behaviour is the same for music on my iPhone (so no streaming), so the problem seems to be elsewhere.

I did not have this problem before Apple Music was introduced. And I don't see the problem on my Mac: it only behaves like this on my iPhone.

So, is this a know issue? Does anybody else have this problem, and ideally, is there a solution??

Thanks!

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4

Try these steps:

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Sign out and back in to your account.
  3. Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on it.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

Hi D. Cohen,

With all due respect as you seem to be an experienced user and I have just registered to this forum, but I am not sure your answer actually makes sense.

You completely puts the issue cause on the customer's side and you put aside the possibility that the issue might come from the service itself.

I have the same problems. My iphone is brand new and barely have any third party apps.

Music stops playing for no reasons since the first day I subscribed.

I thought it was my earphones as they have a command button. Changed them to the original ones... still happening.

Recently I installed a VPN service and I noticed that music stops playing for no reason even more often that it used to.

I then thought this might have to do with the network.

After some research and finding out that a lot of people are experiecing the same issue I found someone else pointing out that this might have something to do with network connectivity.

"Business Insider" has an article about his glitch and other discussions are opened for the same reason"

I noticed that at home, not moving, the music does not stop playing.

So I am no technician, just an enthusiastic apple fan that is used to have devices that just work.

I would be grateful to have from someone a more comprehensive answer about this issue that seems to be affecting a lot of users.

I do understand that this is a new serviceand it is normal that some glitches can occur but therefore:

Are there any plans to have an update to get this fixed before IOS 9? Or we just have to wait and see?

Can someone actually from Apple say something about this ?

I am just being naïve and no one from Apple looks at their own forum?

I do apologize for my English in case something is not clear. It is not my mother tongue.

Thank you

Regards,

Simon
