How to select one broadcast to 2.4 Ghz instead of 5 GHz

I have a EPSON 3640 printer and can not set up the wifi net work on that printer. The Epson technician told me that there is a known conflict with 5GHZ and this printer. He told me to set the Airport Extreme to 2.4 GHz. How can I do it?

If your AirPort Extreme is a 3rd or later 802.11n or a 1st generation 802.11ac model, it will broadcast two (2.4 & 5 GHz) Wi-Fi networks simultaneously. You cannot turn them on or off individually.

If you want to "force" your printer to use the Extreme's 2.4 GHz network, you can try renaming the 5 GHz network with a new network name, and then, configure the printer to connect to the 2.4 GHz network instead. You rename the 5 GHz network by using the AirPort Utility.

I had a similar situation with an HP Printer Tech when he was helping me set up a new HP wireless printer two weeks ago. He said that he had to change my router settings (4th gen Airport Extreme, A1354) because the printer could not work over the 5 GHz band. In fact, he said all wireless printers can only work on 2.4 GHz band. I told him it was dual-band. He said that it was set to 5 GHz only ⚠ and he woul would set it to 2.5 and 5 GHZ bands. By the way, my previous HP wireless printer worked fine with the same router.... Anyway the tech adjusted the router settings remotely and got the printer working. After he was finished, I asked if he put the router back to the same settings it had before he did whatever he did. He said yes. All this makes no sense to me if this router always is working on both bands. Any idea what the tech was talking about? Thx for any feedback.

Sorry, but that's not possible. The 4th generation AirPort Extreme cannot operate with just the 5 GHz radio alone ... unless the 2.4 GHz radio was inoperative. Both radios, as you mentioned, are operating simultaneously.
