Where are photos sent by AirDrop

I have been sent photos by a friend using Air Drop. Where are they on my MacBook Pro >
?

iPad 2, iOS 7

They should be in the Downloads folder on the Mac.

Use AirDrop to send files from your Mac to another nearby Mac or iOS device - Apple Support

includes

Click Save on the receiving Mac to save the incoming files to the Downloads folder.
