Q: AppleTV 3 crashing when viewing Home Sharing photos

I'm using Home Sharing to share my Mac's Photos library via iTunes on my AppleTV. When I go into Computers on the the AppleTV and select Photos then an album and try to view that library as a slideshow I get the spinning thing and then the ATV reboots. I can view the photos and watch them in order by using the remote but when I make it a slideshow I get a crash. This happens with any and every album and the complete library. I've rebooted my Mac and turned Home Sharing on and off to no avail.

    It seems like you can browse pictures from your Photos library over Home Sharing on your Apple TV, but when you try to view a slideshow your Apple TV restarts unexpectedly.

     

    Rebooting your Mac and turning Home Sharing off and on are good steps. You can find more troubleshooting tips that may help in Get help with Home Sharing.

     

    If the behavior continues after troubleshooting Home Sharing, restore your Apple TV to factory settings using the steps in Restore your Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation).
