iTunes not working with Windows 10

I downloaded Windows 10 Pro yesterday, it went smoothly. But when I tried to use iTunes it wouldn't play any music at all, and when trying to play telly shows, it just froze on whatever the image originally was (ie where the program was when it was last used).

Is anyone else having playing problems with Win 10 and iTunes? Is there something extra I should do ?

Cheers 🙂

Go to edit->preferences in iTunes, and click the playback icon. Make sure "play audio using" is set to "windows audio session" (mine was set to "direct sound"). Making that single change fixed mine and I was experiencing the exact same problems, Windows 10 Pro. After trying in vain for a week to find a solution to the problem I was about ready to reinstall iTunes. For some reason, the Windows 10 installation changed my audio settings in iTunes when it removed a Dolby audio file on my computer that's no longer supported.

Hope this helps you.

I had this problem too with not being able to play songs and video freezing on the original image, not playing, after updating to Windows 10. The problem had to do with the sound driver.

Even though the sound driver was showing as up to date in my Device Manager, I needed to uninstall and reinstall the sound driver.

iTunes now works for me.
