RAM upgrade not working

I am on a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Mavericks. Everything was working normally, and I wanted to upgrade RAM. It originally had 4GB total, but I purchased 2 new sticks for 8GB total. I think I followed the specs listed on this page: MacBook Pro: How to remove or install memory - Apple Support

Here is the RAM I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009RBN6I6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_deta ilpage_o00_s00

They are both DDR3, 204 pin. I just installed the new RAM and now the computer is not coming on normally. When I push the power button I hear the fan come on but the screen never displays anything. Any ideas?
