After the recent upgrate to iPhoto

Which upgrade are you asking about?   Are you now using the new Photos.app with MacOS X Yosemite, or are you using iPhoto 9.6.1?

is the problem that the photos do not appear in the Media Browser, when you want to upload them?

If you are using the new Mac Photos.app, you need to enable your Photos Library as the System Photo Library in the Photos > Preferences > General and then restart Photos and your Web Browser.

The option "Use as System Photo Library" needs to be grayed out.

Thank you for the feedback.  So I am using the new Photos app as that is what was upgraded with a system update.  I have that preference set in my preferences but still having the issue.  When I go to lets say shutter fly and click upload, I am unable to find any of the photos that I have recently put in my library for the Photo program.  All of my older photos from iPhoto are there that merged over but none of my new photos.  I am wondering if there is another setting that I don't have set up correctly?  I even have made albums in Photo and they do not show up when I try to upload photos to any external website.  I can screen shot if needed.  I really appreciate the help.

Are you using iCloud Photo Library with the Photos.app?  And have you "Optimise Mac Storage" enabled?  Then your photos are in iCloud and will not show, when you try to upload them, unless you download them to your MAc.

No, I am not using iCloud for any of my photos so I am assuming that that information does not pertain to me.  I am at a wall and have no idea what else to do.

Which web browser are you using, when you are uploading to shutter fly?

Safari should show your Photos Library and all your photos.

So I had been using Chrome and I took your advice and used Safari and the files were there!  Not sure why that is but thank you so much for your help and feedback!

Photos can only work with applications that have been updated to be fully compatible with MacOS X 10.10.3 or later. Update all older software to the newest versions, if you want to use it with Photos. I don't use Chrome, so I don't know if the newest version already supports Photos.

I have the same problem and when I use Safari,  I see Photos library, but when I click on it, I don't see any subfolders or albums, etc.  and it appears to select the whole library for upload and then I have to cancel out.  I too am at a wall and very frustrated.

That is because you do not directly access the Photos  library - ever

You use the media browser in every upload/open/attach window toward the bottom of the source list under media ==> photos ==> Photos

Although this article is for iPhoto is is most still correct for Photos - How to Access Files in iPhoto

Did you ever solve this? I am having the same problem but this thread is not solving the problem. I just put a new photo in my photo library and can't upload to flickr or imgur. Why is the photo not showing up?? this is infuriating. Apple is supposed to be easy to use and i have wasted my whole morning trying to upload one photo.

No wonder you are having problems - this thread is solved so if the solution does not work for you then you need to start a new thread with the specific details of your different problem  --  Writing an effective Apple Support Communities question

The most general answer is to select the photo(s) in Photos and export (file menu ==> export) to a desktop folder and use from there - this will always work

I saw the solved answer but I don't understand how to implement. I will try the desktop folder thing. Thanks.

Ok the desktop folder thing is allowing me to upload. Thanks for the tip I can now go about my day.

Still not sure why new photos don't show up in an upload function, seems like a bug. But at least I can do my work now. Thanks again.

Again if you have the same problem it is because your library is not set as the system library - if it is not the same problem then you need to start a new thread with specifics of your different problem and different set up
