Aug 7, 2015 8:55 AM in response to a.oconnorby Ralph Landry1,A sim free iPhone is not an unlocked iPhone. The device locks to the carrier that it is first activated on.
Apple does not sell sim free, only locked and full price unlocked, was this actually purchased from an Apple Store?

Aug 7, 2015 9:37 AM in response to a.oconnorby wegras,Then Apple Stores (Apple owned ) in the UK only sell fully free iPhones at full price unless you specifically buy one under a carrier plan from the Apple Store ,not something you can do by accident
Your iPhone came out of the store unlocked .Using a Virgin sim would not lock it as that has to be processed at time of sale ( as done by CarPhone Warehouse )
Better to check with 3 your sim may be faulty
