I sturt up my mac with the hard disk connected and my mac didnt't start...it appears a folder with a question mark. I press alt or cmnd r, as mac support suggests, but it appears a lock with a key...can you help me?

If you set a firmware password on your Mac, you might see a lock icon at startup if you try to start your Mac from another volume like an external drive or OS X Recovery. Enter your firmware password to continue starting up.

If you do not know the PW then how you recover depends upon how old the Mac is. What specific Mac do y have?

Aug 7, 2015 3:36 PM in response to lllaassby sarita86,mY MAC says, on the back, 2010...do you think I can try with the ram? cause support asks me 250 euros...and I'll loose all my files...I don't have any firmware password because I've never made one...maybe someone in the store where I bought it could have it? it is a refurbished mac
