Q: iPhone 5s text tone is silent

My mom's iPhone 5s isn't making any sound when it receives a text. All the settings that need to be enable are enabled, to my knowledge. It's running 8.0.2. In sounds in the Settings app, the ringer and alerts volume bar is set to full and the Text Tone is set to Note. In notifications, Messages are allowed to have Notifications.The mute switch on the side of the phone is set to on-

Hello NicholasRaymond,
If you have the mute switch turned on as you indicate above, then you your Mom won't hear notifications. Try turning the mute switch off and see if that resolves the issue.

To mute only notifications, alerts, and sound effects, slide the Side Switch down. When you turn on Mute, you'll still hear audio playback in your music, podcasts, videos, and games.
