Connected Apple TV to Harmon Kardon AVR 135

I have connected the Apple TV to my Harmon Kardon AVR 135 however i am not able to see picture on my TV.

1. HDMI cable is connected from back of the Panasonic Viera TV to the Apple TV

2. Optical cable is connected from Apple TV to optical input #2 on the receiver

3. I have changed the digital input (located in front of the receiver) and selected optical 2

4. The TV input has been selected to video 2 and i can hear the apple tv when using the apple remote but not able to see the apple tv menu on my TV.

so it works if you don't connect the harmon kardon ?

my appletv is connected to my tv using hdmi

and connected to my receiver by optical the tv is obvious to a receiver is connected to the appletv

your tv should too
