I'm going to provide you with some basic information here, but I would suggest you let one of our technical advisors help you with the setup of your new Mac, as there have been many changes since OS X 10.5.8.
When you log into your old user account on your new Mac, do you see all of your data restored from Time Machine? If so, it sounds like you may need to update your iPhoto software and library before turning on the new Photos application.
If there is nothing in your new user account on your Mac, you can delete that account.
