Q: copy music from iphone 5 to iphone6 - music sits in iTunes on a computer abroad

I just bought an iPhone 6, backed up my iPhone 5 to a laptop and set the new phone up from the backup. Two things - no music or tones were copied, and the "fingerprint utility" icon disappeared. - How can I get the music across?

    Hi, Frodey.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you are missing purchased tones are missing after you restored your new iPhone 6 from your backup.  Must likely, these purchases were not transferred when the backup was created.  However, here is the article that will walk you through restoring your purchased tones.

Restore missing tones on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 8.1.1 or later

I would need clarification on what you mean by fingerprint utility to provide a better answer.  However, if you are inquiring about Touch ID, here is the article that explains this feature.  This article also provides some troubleshooting steps if this feature is not working as expected.

Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad

    Regards

Hi and thanks for trying to help me out.

The fingerprint issue I managed to sort out myself, but the songs are ripped from my own CDs, installed on my iPhone 5 through iTunes on a machine that is now located abroad, and now I wanted to have those songs copied to my new phone.

While I am at it - although I'm not sure if this is the right place to suggest changes in the IOS, but I would very much like to be able to schedule the "do Not Disturb" at different hours on different days Being a teacher, my days are variable, so I'd like to be able to set the "do not disturb" to be on while I'm in class.

    best regards,

This is not the place to communicate with Apple.  You can leave feedback for Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback

You cannot transfer music from one iPhone to another.  iPhone sync to computers, not each other.  Sorry.
