Change Administer name
How can I change my Administer name? (I have my password, so that's not an issue.)
Which name? Your full name or short name?

Thanks, that did it. FYI, it was both the full and short name I wanted to change.
The process made my new name the administrator and turned my old administrator into a user, and I had to transfer files from Library/Application Support to have my applications as they were. But that wasn't a big deal.
