what is the difference between "delete" and "delete all"

hi

i am trying to clean up my photos library. I delete photos using the backspace key. But noticed that if i press shift backspace i get a warning that i am deleting from all devices. Obviously I don´t want to be having to do the same thing on all the devices and if i want an image gone on one device i want it gone on all. I have iCloud library enabled.

so is there a difference between the too? backspace & shift+backspace?

thanks

The difference will depend on where you are using the delete key.

If you are viewing an album:

  • If you are viewing an album the backspace key will remove the photo from the album, but the photo will remain in your Photos library in the moments.
  • Command backspace will delete the photo from the library and move it to the recently deleted album on all devices.

If you are viewing a Moment :

  • If you are viewing a moment the backspace key will delete the photo from the library, but you will see a warning that the photo will be deleted.
  • If you are viewing a moment the combination command backspace key will delete the photo from the library, but quicker, without a warning.

Shift-backspace does not do anything in my library, it just makes the mac beep. Perhaps we have different keyboard shortcut bindings depending on the localisation and the keyboard. MY mac has a German keyboard.
