Q: How to reduce the size of a photo in Photos

Use the export option from the file menu. You cannot choose a custom size, but there is are some pre-defined sizes that you can use on export.

Click on the little triangle.

Please tell me also if you see a custom option in the size choices.

I asked if there was a custom option, not how to set a custom size, they are different questions.

No, there is no option containing the word "custom" - but there is a Max dimension option what lets you export a custom size which for 99.99999% of the world answers the question

Actually there is a Custom size option:

It will let you create a custom size as long as the aspect ratio is the same as that of the original file.  If one wants a different aspect ratio and a custom size they first must crop the photo to the aspect ratio desired and then export as above.

There is on mine too, but I may not have the same version as the OP , which is why I was asking the question I asked in that specific way, I had a feeling there was no such option on earlier versions.

there are only two version of Photos - the max dimension is on both
