Hi Jack
Apple does not recommend polishing or buffing the watch with abrasives.
I have seen it suggested elsewhere that a good quality screen protector may be effective in obscuring very small existing scratches, as well as in providing some measure of protection against future damage.
To clarify: I was referring to a film-type screen protector, some of which are also described as having "self-healing" properties.
For example:

By contrast, problems reported with snap-on type protectors include that they can, for example: fall off, reduce touch sensitivity, scratch relatively easily, trap moisture and trap small items of debris (which can cause scratches on the watch case and/or display).
Live with it. Removing it has a good chance of damaging the crystal of the watch more than the scratch. The usual way to remove scratches from watch crystals is to use jeweler's rouge and a buffing wheel, but I wouldn't risk that with an watch.
I had some scratches on the edge of my watch face where it curves. I got this from Amazon. Looks invisible on the watch.

Comes in clear or gray. Snaps on and off easily.
