Hi,

I assume my passport you are referring to is a Western Digital external hard drive. Is your new Macbook Air a 2015?

It is always a good idea to make a backup of both drives before doing the following.

1) Connect external hard drive to USB port

2) Open Finder on Air

3) Select Finder > Preferences from the Air Menu at the top.

4) Make sure the option to show hard drives and External Drives are checked

5) Check View in the Finder menu and make sure show sidebar is selected (if the menu says hide sidebar you have already done this)

6) From Finder Menu, File > New Finder Window

7) In one Finder window select you external hard drive from the sidebar

8) In the other Finder window, select the Macintosh HD then Users then your username

9) Click items (folders, files) in external hard drive Finder window and Drag to appropriate Folders in your username Finder window. For example, drag photos to the Pictures Folder. Holding the Option key while dragging will make copies of the data instead of moving.
