This option will disappear if you enable Apple Music: you no longer have to sync your music with the Mac as the tracks are now stored in the cloud.
OH right, but the weird thing is - even with Apple music. The music that I down load doesn't even come onto my music library on my phone and most of the music is still requoted to be played with cellular data or wifi. So I don't know what to do 😟
HI, I'm using an iPhone 6 with my macbook pro, all loaded with up to date software. My issue is that I can't even edit the music on my iPhone now / so I can't add any more music that I download or add to my laptop that isn't from Apple music. am I making myself clear?? I feel like i'm bad at explaining it haha

Well, you cannot edit the emails in the Mail app on your iPhone from iTunes either. Just like email is being synced to a server via IMAP (or Exchange) and not controlled from iTunes, music is now synced via Apple's servers (if you have iCloud Music Library enabled). And just like you download emails or more often email attachments on demand when viewing the email on the phone, you do the same now with songs.
