Q: homekit iphone and ipad -- do i need to add hk device to each iOS device or just to one?

I just purchased my first home kit device.  However, I cannot control it through siri on my iPad.  It works fine with my iPhone.  Do I need to add the home kit device to each and every iOS device I want to control it with, or will iCloud setup the relationship for each iOS device to the home kit device for me?

In other words, is it supposed to work like scenario A or scenario B below?

Scenario A

1) Pair HomeKit device A and iOS device A.

2) iCloud then pairs all my iOS devices (that I am signed into) and the HomeKit device.

3) I can use Siri on any iOS device signed into my iCloud account to control HomeKit device A.

Scenario B

1) I pair Homekit device A and iOS device A.

2) I decide I want to use HomeKit device A and iOS device B.  I have to pair  HomeKit device A and iOS device B.  iCloud doesn't do it for me.

Thanks!

    Greetings xxyyzz,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you have purchased a HomeKit accessory and would like to know if you need to download the HomeKit app on each device to interact with the product. You will need to download HomeKit on each device for use with that accessory. The attached article below has more information concerning set up and use of HomeKit accessories.

Not sure this was answered. I am having the same issue. Have a few HomeKit devices paired to iCloud account. I am able to control fine on iPhone running iOS9. On the iPhone there is a Settings> Homekit section. However, the iPad on iOS9 seems to be missing this settings area. Even with iCloud data sync turned on, controlling HomeKit devices from the iPad seems like a bug or missing feature at this point.

Apparently it is a bug. If you do not see the HomeKit section on your iPad settings then do a hard restart by holding the home + power button at the same time until your device restarts. Once your device comes back up online HomeKit starts automatically working.
