Sleep mode has changed?

When my Mac Mini goes into sleep mode it now requires me to hit the power button on the Mac to return......before I could just hit the keyboard or move the mouse. Plus the pulsing dimmed power light has gone.

Currently running OS X 10.9.5

Any ideas what's wrong?
