Q: why am I seeing all my sons texts

My son bought a new iPhone 6 and after he switched his contacts from his old phone to his new phone on our computer it somehow merged, where everytime he sends and receives texts them come to my phone as well? We are not sure where to even begin to fix it.

It's because you share an Apple ID. Apple IDs are personal, not group. Your son should have his own Apple ID, and if you want to share iTunes content you can link them using Family Sharing - Apple Support.

A less satisfactory approach is to go to Settings/Messages on each device and uncheck the target addresses that you do not want to see on each phone.
