Q: unsupported video format

I have two apple tv's - 2nd and 3rd generation.

My Apple TV 3rd generation (1080p) when using HDMI plugged into either a phillips 1080p 42inch or samsung 1080p 50 inch

TV generates a "unsupported video format" error.  When I plug my Apple TV 2nd generation (720p) in via HDMI I don't get

the same problem and it works fine.

Has anyone had this problem with their Apple TV?  Solutions?

Did Apple upgrade the supported video software on the 3rd generation TV?

AppleTV 2, Other OS, 2 units - 1080p and 720p

Is this message appearing when you are trying to watch some content or only when you are trying to plug in and turn on your Apple TV 3rd Gen?

If error message is appearing when you are connecting and turning on your Apple TV 3rd Gen to your TV, then maybe try with different HDMI cable.

I found a way to make this work. When you play the video on your computer, go to File, Export, and then select the iPhone option, and then airdrop it to your phone
