After installing Yosemite from Mavericks, Macbook pro restarts randomly even after clean install. What options are there for me?

What options do I have in terms of getting this issue resolved?  I bought a second hand macbook pro.  It worked great until we upgraded to Yosemite.  The RAM is set fine, I even did a clean install.  I had to upgrade in order to install Office, but can&#x27;t even get to that point now. It&#x27;s a MacBook Pro 15-inch Mid 2010 model.The immediate error is from the graphics.There were graphics problems with this series.Run the hardware diagnostics as was suggested, then call up Apple.One potential work-around discussed around the forums was to disable graphics switching, but that may not be a factor here.  (Also see here and here.)I would suggest not deleting files nor making any related and potentially-detrimental changes — not until after diagnostics, and after discussing this misbehavior with the Apple support folks.  Only (maybe) if they can&#x27;t offer a solution.

Thanks for the quick response.  I had bought this second hand for my son who will be using it for college.  Since the upgrade, he&#x27;s so frustrated and I feel bad that I couldn&#x27;t afford a new one.  Since I have no coverage, do any of you think that Apple will still cover the cost to fix it?  If not, then would it be good for me to do it myself?  I have decent skills and have put together my own pc&#x27;s before in the past.Thanks!

You&#x27;ll have to ask Apple (directly) whether they&#x27;ll cover this repair or not.There are tear-downs of various systems, and you&#x27;ll need to decide whether you want to procure parts and proceed — particularly given it&#x27;s not entirely certain what the fault here is.
