Upgrading from 10.6.8 to Yosemite
Will the performance of my IMac be affected by upgrading from Snow Leopard to Yosemite? This is an Intel Core 2 Duo machine with 4 GB memory.
Thank you
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Yosemite is more resource intensive than Snow Leopard. If you can install additional RAM, do so. That will tend to lessen any adverse performance tendencies.
Ciao.

The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a early 2008 iMac supposedly limited to 4 GB and noticed an improvement.
I have an early 2009 MacBook, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo upgraded to 4GB of Ram, 500GB HD currently on 10.6.8 OS, can Yosemite run on this machine?? I would really like to have contacts and calendars synched w/IMac & Iphone. Why do they leave Mobile Me on the machine when it is not usable?

Yes, your MBP can run Yosemite.
Ciao.
I have the same MacBook with 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo upgraded to 4GB of Ram, but when I try to upgrade using app store to Yosemite. I am told that my computer is not compatible. Any ideas?
If it is a model identifier 5.2 Macbook, it should be compatible with Yosemite. Check the model identifier number in System Profiler.
Ciao.
